It also proves the point that you should never leave home without travel insurance!

.......but you'd be gobsmacked to find out how many actually do.

We don't let anyone start on the project until they show me proof of their insurance and I confirm all the details. And now I have a story to prove the importance.

I agree on the travel insurance as well. Bought ours the other day. It is a minefield of choices though which does make it a little daunting.

I agree on the travel insurance as well.
I never used to get TI when I travelled each year to the UK, always thinking it was a waste of money, but I started to get it when I first began travelling with Della to the US. And it was a good thing too, because when Della got sick in Orlando, we had to go to the medical centre (which Disney arranged for us) and the bill was very expensive. When we got home, we put a claim in on the TI and got everything back without any fuss at all - now that's the type of insurance I like!

Got back from my trip yesterday.

Spent a large part of Thursday in Universal Studios Singapore. I'm not sure if they have room to expand but it is smaller than HKDL. Although that's not a bad thing because they do seem to managed to fit quite a bit into it and it doesn't take too long to get around.

I got on all the rides and attractions apart from the scary ones and spent plenty of time just wandering around. The food was pretty expensive (It is a theme park so that's not a complaint) and the merchandising was very disappointing. I got a couple of fridge magnets to add to the collection but even if i had the space and money I doubt there was anything I would have bought.

The Transformers ride was the highlight for me.

I remember it being hot but to be honest I don't really notice it any more, now that I've been living in it for the last year. I think Singapore isn't quite so bad because it has water breezes. If you want hot and muggy then Bangkok is the place to go.

Just spent 2 days wandering around KL, buying geeky things and looking for a new pair of boots. Then 1 day wandering around Singapore buying geeky things and a new pair of boots and one day at USS.

The Petronis towers in KL are damned impressive.

I remember standing in the gardens beside them thinking the same thing - they are cool. When I was there, the observation bridge was shut so I never got to go up them :(

I'm going again!

I was asked how much I would want to come back to Laos doing the same job I had been doing and am now going back on a 12 month contract. I fly out Tuesday.

I have to do a visa run (leave Laos and go to another country to get my passport stamped) every 3 months and have Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong on my list this time around. There's new things in HKDL to see.

Both of the staff there at the moment came down with dengue at the same time. Bad for them but it made the salary negotiations a bit easier for me. Also meant having to get back there as soon as possible.
