Della and I started our Christmas shopping yesterday, and already the shops were getting busy.

We went to Westfield Miranda and spent 40 minutes trying to get parked. In the end, I just told Della to get out of the car and I left the carpark and found somewhere in a side street over a kilometre away - it was insane.

wow... thats crazy to have to park that far from the centre.

people are starting to shop up here but not in any kind of seriousness yet. I've started to plan but am thinking of doing most of mine online for a bunch of reasons including not having to walk a KM to the shops and they can be sent to the receiver rather than me having to pay postage to get them interstate.

Oh that reminds me... I've been meaning to ask about shopping at the Disney store online. How long have people had to wait for their purchases to arrive? I'm thinking of doing a bit of Chrissy shopping there but don't want to if there's a chance it won't be here on time. Any advice on buying from there would be greatly appreciated. Ta :)

I have had 'a few' (okay alot) of orders from the online disney store and none have ever taken more than two weeks. Most turn up within 10 days. One time just after Halloween 2010 I ordered costumes in a sale and they arrived just 4 days later! Fantastic service! Beware the more times you visit the site the more emails you will get and that can be costly...so many sales, I just have to have that stuff!

Word of warning if you are buying for christmas from "Laughing Place" online store - FORGET IT! I buy from here a few times a year and never receive quick service. My order from July has only just started to be looked at. Out of 7 items they have sent just 2. This annoys me greatly. I know they offer a shopping service but why wait so long to even look for the items? By the time they get to my order some items are off the shelves. (The 2013 Family planner calendar started in Sept and I haven't got it yet...)

Oh thank you for the advice re: Laughing place... I was heading there next... :)

I might stick to the Disney Store in that case as some of them I want to give out in early-ish Dec when I see my darling nephews. Cant wait to see their faces when they open not only 'Disneyland pressies' but Christmas ones as well :)

If you know what you want from the parks you could try mail order from WDW.

Email: wdw.mail.order@disneyworld.com

I only have two gifts to get but I still need to mail some to the east coast. Two weeks until I put the tree up - WooHoo!

I've been shopping on and off since July! We have 21 (I think!) kids to buy for, plus our own. We don't buy for siblings (thank God!!!) otherwise it'd take even longer - we have three each, plus spouses.

I'm pretty much done now though. Our kids are taken care of, as are most of the others. We are getting most of the older nieces and nephews gift vouchers for bowling and movies which keeps them AND their parents happy during the school holidays :)

Oh Wow Mel, you are so organised already.

I don't have a big family to buy for, so I tend to do my shopping at a leisurely pace :) but I'm not even putting all that much effort into it until I get through my sons 21st in 3 weeks time. Invitations, decorations, platters and finer details on a car cake are consuming my every waking moment right now.

There are currently 20 x 16-17 yr olds in my house making gingerbread houses, having completed secret Santa! The disney decos are always a hit!

Sounds like a crazy Saturday night at your house Beth!

Della and I were wrapping presents last night. One more whole week at work - boo. And to think that Colin and Leanne are in WDW, and Nicole and Matt are in San Francisco and about to head to Florida for their cruise...

Oh wow... gingerbread... yum.

I am as far behind for Christmas as I have ever been ... ever.

Have I shopped... nope.
Have I baked... once - but the kids ate all the cookies.
Have I even put up the tree... nada.

And my next day off is Christmas Day unless there is a Christmas miracle and I don't have either job forcing me to work Christmas Eve.

Wish I was in Disneyland where the hardest thing would be deciding where to eat. :)

Just think of it as a virtual Chrismas Lisa!

Spending the day at my brothers at Allambie Heights today and it's going to be a scorcher! I want to stay home in my air conditioned house

Yep - that's what I'm doing. It is already 33 here - tipped to hit 37.

We've got our tree up and a string for the Christmas cards. We had our office party on Friday too.

I've done all my buying and wrapping - now I just have to wait until Tuesday next week :)

I got hit by the heat yesterday too. A kids dress up party - outside. Was fun though :)

Almost ready for Christmas. Our tree has been undecorated and is unlikely to be re-decorated as Josh will just throw it all on the floor again :( I spent two hours wrapping presents yesterday and still have a whole bag load to do, but Santa might not feel like wrapping this year so we'll see... Baking hasn't been done. I'll attempt to do some with the boys this weekend - depending on how much sleep I get between now and then. Only two and a half days left at work - woohoo! Love working at a uni :)
