Just a little bit of news

Postby mushu mama » Mon Dec 06, 2010 2:22 pm

I've been mulling this over for a very long time and finally decided to take Sandie's advice and 'just do it' and just spent an ENTIRE morning waiting anxiously in line for 3 hours to enrol to go back to school next year... .FULL TIME... so that is going to take a little juggling - particularly because the campus is a good hours drive from home and every day starts at 8am :? and I am not good with early mornings. The anxiety came from the fact that I was there right on time and was a LOOOOOONG way down the queue and there were only 20 places in the course available for the whole Sunny Coast Area...

But the fantastic news is, I GOT IN!!!

Next Feb, when school resumes, I will be hitting the books for the first time in more years than I care to remember, training to get my Cert 3 in Travel/tourism with my elective being International Travel as a bonus add on. To give you an indication of how much I wanted to do this, I sold my beloved little beamer to pay for the fees.

Way to go Lisa. I started a Cert II in travel couple of years ago via correspondence but didn't get far. When you're finished, you might have a line up of clients wanting to use your services!
2023 Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Lines - Disney Wish. Going to be awesome to be back!

Congrats Lisa! That's fantastic news. I'm sure you'll do great :)

Can Aussies get the Disney College of Knowledge (or whatever it's called) certification?

Thanks guys, I just have to pass now

Working for Disney is definitely something I'm aspiring to... if I could choose, it'd be as a Disney Cruise Line agent, but I looked into the college of Knowledge and detailed info is only accessable with a travel Agent licence number so that might have to wait till I have one to type into the box. It does look like its US only from the info I've seen, but I intend to look into it again when I'm licenced just in case - I'd love to 'earn my ears' with the program, but it seems that visiting WDW prior to sitting the assessments is a distinct advantage so i might leave it till after I have done that.

course, I will be missing a week of school in April, so its lucky its industry related

LOL.... I guess that indicates how very long ago I started musing about going back to school... and just didn't get around to it. Your words were... " just do it".
Of course I took your advice, if I could get done what you manage to get done, I'd be a happy girl. :D

After reading your initial post last week I found myself in a newsagent stocking up on stationery and I was thinking about you studying when it occurred to me that I too am studying in 2011 and in fact I had the first class that day - D'Oh!

I received a scholarship through work (TAFE NSW) to study a Diploma in Training and Assessment. It is a requirement as a TAFE teacher to have a CIV in training and assessment and work had previously sent me back to uni to get a Grad Dip in Vocational Education and Training but this course is just another feather in my cap as I soar the dizzy heights of adult education.

So roomy we can now also be study buddies and can moan about our teachers and the homework!

Oh YEaaaaaah!!!! sounds good... its a long time since I've had a need to whine about a teacher ( other than some of my kids past ones) should be fun. -/ although I'm hoping they're all just delightful.... whats the chances?

Well done on the scholarship too roomy ... -/ -/ its going to be a big year ahead...

So it will be a big year for both of you - I decided about halfway through my relaxing cruise that it is ridiculous that I work for a union at least 45 hours a week sometimes up to 55 and I only get paid for 35! So my goal this year is to get way more politically active within my chosen party with an aim to changing careers again! Imagine I could be the Minister for Tourism booking my "fact finding mission" funded by the tax payers through my personal travel agent Lisa to the Disney Parks taking along my adult education advisor Beth to provide any needed advice - anyone else want to come?

Sounds like you got it all worked out Sandie... of course, you need to take your travel agent with you just in case the mission needs to deviate at a moments notice.

Woo Hoo go the DUD girls -/ -/ -/ big changes this year for the three of us... good luck Sandie, which ever area you go into... you've definitely got the get up and go to get the job done :)
