We didn't have anyone knock on our door this year, however I did see a couple of young draculas walking up the street behind my place when I was coming home from work!

They tried for 'candy' without the costumes? sheesh ...
Australians have a long way to go before they are up to speed on the Halloween thing. When I had my party shop, it was an uphill battle to explain the whole concept.
I didn't see a single dressed up person today... not even kids. Course, I live in the 'newlywed and nearly dead' part of town so that was never very likely.

Dead Elvis sounds like an interesting costume :)

I'm saving my costume for a halloween do on Friday night... I'm going as the wicked witch of the west... (pre-tornado) complete with ruby slippers...

We also had kids that came asking for stuff without being dressed up. Personally I think we should leave Halloween for the Americans, we Australians don't have a clue really.

My kids look forward to Halloween every year - the start planning their costumes in May! I think I will have to take them to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party one year.

Nope.... they already think they invented it.... they may well have fueled the modern day feel of 'candy and costumes' but its roots are absolutely fascinating and not actually American.
I'm the biggest woos there is but I love Halloween.
Hmm.......maybe its the opportunity to eat sugar all day and not feel remotely guilty. :D

I have noticed quite a difference between Halloween in QLD and Vic. Its really starting to build down there... up here, I think every time I said "happy Halloween" I got the reply "Oh... is that today?"

Oh yeah... I'm so doing that one day. :)

You're right Lisa. If I'm not mistaken, Halloween is an Irish Festival celebrating departed spirits and ancestors, or something like that.

Yep thats pretty much it, All Hallows Eve. The last vestiges of its pagan roots is the scary stuff and the dressing up to 'fool' the spirits ( or something like that) Now its little more than a good excuse to dress up, catch up with neighbours and get free lollies. Its a good antidote to the cute and fluffy Easter and 'spend every last cent' Christmas.

And I love candy corn. :D

Course, I'll celebrate anything, so bring them all on really.
