Shamu's snack

Postby churros » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:55 pm

Well it wasn't really Shamu but I think Shamu is a bit like Skippy - he keeps getting replaced and I suspect the orginal Shamu has long since become sashimi. I know very distasteful but apparently whale trainer is not distasteful to Tilikum.

This was truly awful....

I think its a timely reminder though that these animals are not pets. They are essentially a wild animal caged, and this particular Killer whale ( although, they're not really whales, they are in fact massive dolphins) has been involved in multiple deaths of people.

I watched a doco recently about a pod of Killer whales and it followed their hunting instincts and tactics and in the wild, they are more like a pack of wolves than anything else. It was truly eye opening.... I'd think twice before going that close to any Killer whale thats for sure.

It must have been horrifying for the people watching as well.

I don't know why they insist on keeping the shows running. Well, I know why really, it's all about the money, but seriously, it is worth it? This one whale has been involved in THREE deaths! How many warnings do they need?

Can you imagine seeing something like that? It'd be horrific.

Of all the attractions we lined up for in WDW, Universal and Seaworld this one had the greatest wait time in the sun- 2hrs before they let you into the stadium
