Help - amuse me!

Postby sandie » Thu Jan 28, 2010 7:26 pm

Some of you may remember what a fun time I had at work last year which resulted in me having to take my employer to the industrial relations commission for bullying and harrassment - well tomorrow is my last day in my position and on Monday I start a new job as a union organiser.

Initially my Councils will all be on the north side of Sydney and I can see I will be spending at least 3 hours in my car each day.

I will probably quickly catch up on all my archived podcasts - I listen to Inside teh Magic and DIS Unplugged - can you recommend any others?

Congrats on the new job Sandie! I don't envy all that travel... will you be M5ing it or avoiding it at all costs? I used to drive into the Eastern suburbs but had to give it up for my health. When I work now I drop the boys off at Revesby and train and bus it in - much less stressful! Anyway, that doesn't help you....

As for podcasts the only one I really listen to with any regularity is ITM. I used to listen to Window to the Magic, but Paul Barrie started grating on my nerves. What I use to do though, was borrow audio books from the library and upload them to my iPod. I actually still listen to the Harry Potter series every now and then and my in laws blame that for Ben's slightly pommie accent LOL

Good luck with the new job Sandie... that drive would literally drive me insane... wish I could suggest some podcasts, but I don't get time to listen to the ones I have already.... I work 7 1/2 minutes by car from my house and THAT can get me irritated enough.

you should try Mouse planet, they have a couple of pod casts a week. http://www.mouseplanet.com/misc.php?pg=podcast

Also laughing Place is really good. They are a bit like DIS Unplugged but a bit more fun http://www.laughingplace.com/Page-LP-Podcast.asp

you can find they both on Itunes as well.

Good luck with the job.

Hows the new job Sandie? Hope it's going well for you. Hell of a week though to start commuting long distance in Sydney with the rain we've been having. Instant traffic, just add water.

I can't add too much on the pod cast front from what the others have been saying, and Mel I agree with your assessment on Paul Barrie, I've given him up to. Now for real information and entertainment, there are 2 other podcasts that I subscribe to. The Life with Roy and HG (because I can't get to listen to the show), and the V8Insiders for all the news you need on V8 Supercars. Both worth checking out Sandie to help with your long grind on Sydney roads. 8)

Ummm thanks for the advice Anthony - but I will pass!

On the first day of my new job I thougt "What the hell have I done???" But it has improved a bit each day.

I replaced a person who died, pretty young, at Christmas so i can't critise them - not even the fact that paperwork, minutes, IRC cases for all 8 Council's I look after were just in a pile of boxes - not sorted at all!!! Nothing had dates or last names on it!!!! My first three days were spent on filing!!!!!
