Arrgghhh - you see, that is what I wanted mine to do. But the Bravia will not output a digital signal via the optical cable for the PS3 connected through HDMI. I thought something was wrong with the Bravia, but when I checked on the Whirlpool forums, there were stacks of posts with the same problem, and a number of people pointing out that it was a "feature" of the Bravia panels. The Bravia optical outputs a Dolby Digital signal when I'm watching free to air TV through the HD tuner - just not from the PS3 via HDMI...grrrrr...
The beauty of the PS3 is that it's now hooked into the wireless network so I can (whoops, I mean could, if I did that sort of thing) stream stuff I've downloaded from the PC to the TV.
Yep - that's how I set mine up - I can show holiday slideshows, play mp3s, view videos etc - all stored on my PC and streaming to the PS3 via the wireless. Make sure you've downloaded the latest v2.41 firmware update Greg. Allows you simultaneous playing of mp3s while viewing your slideshows.

The last movie I watched for Pride and Prejudice (for the 600th time). The BBC version, not the Keira Knightly rubbish. Before that it was Enchanted and 101 Dalmations. I rarely get 2hrs uninterrupted so I tend to watch movies that I know well so it doesn't matter if I miss big chunks! :)

Yeah, the slide shows are one of the things I really wanted to do. I've had people come around to look at my photos and we've had to cram around the PC with only one person getting the comfortable seat. They look really spectacular on the TV so now I have to go through and pick the cream for a special slideshow folder so people don't have to sit for 12 hours to see all of them.

I did the update just a few hours after I set it all up. I'm the anal type that did hours of research before I bought it to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted so I already had the update on a USB drive. The problem was that halfway through the update the power went out and the entire house was plunged into darkness. Having read all the warnings before I started about not turning off the power or removing the USB drive until it was completely finished I was in a bit of a panic until the power came back and everything turned out to be okay.

Thought I'd resurrect this one seeing as I still have no internet and am catching up on movies and books.

The last DVD I watched was 10,000 BC .... believe me... not even worth it on DVD.
Loved the Spiderwick Chronicles....

Next one I'm watching is Silk. Not because it has Keira in it ( I don't actually like her acting all that much) but because it sounds good.. Kinda epic...

I just watched David Fincher's "Zodiac" about the Zodiac murders in San Francisco. It is a great film as it follows the murders through the eyes of the police and the San Francisco Chronicle journalists who were receiving the Zodiac's letters.

David Fincher directed the greatest serial killer film of all time "Seven" - so it was interesting to see how he handled a real story. The attention to detail (being set in late 60's, early 70's) is terrific.

Now, don't get me wrong I really like Cars, but I just had to watch it THREE times over the weekend  I beginning to regret the day Ben learnt how to say "Cars!" Now he's added "DDD" meaning "Dvd" to his vocab too, so we can't even pretend that he just wants to play with his cars

Yeah, I was impressed by August Rush as well. I started watching it with no idea what it was about or anything else and just let it unfold. What else has that kid been in, it annoyed me the whole time that I recognised him from something.

Having just bought the Spiderwick Chronicles I can tell you that he did double duty in that one. He's also been in The Golden Compass, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the lovely capt'n Jack and was brilliant in Finding Neverland, again with Mr Depp. This kid is all over the place but deserves to be ... hes better than a lot of adult actors out there.

Lisa.

I'm watching Silk tonight as well as Drillbit Taylor.

Bingo! My daughter and I were asking the same question about this kid and what we've seen him in. Finding Neverland was the movie. Well done Lisa. I never thought of Charlie either. Was he also the kid in Bridge to Tarabithia?

Ok, watched 'Silk' last night.... highly recommend it . Loved it .... was epic like I imagined with wonderful scenery of both France and Japan.
Not one for the kids though.

Also saw Made of Honour and Loved that also. Typical chick flick... bawled my eyes out.

And to round out the evening I watched DrillBit Taylor. Fell asleep watching it the first time and wasn't that impressed but on the second watch I laughed my head off, so its more of an aquired taste I think.

Tonight I finally get to see August Rush.

I watched a Christmas movie with a difference today... it was called NOEL. What a tear jerker... Don't watch it without a box of tissues.

Depends on how you look at it but I'm not sure you'd call it a happy ending... but very thought provoking.
