I'm interested to see how Hornish Jr shapes up in the 9. Mr The King (see what I did there? ) came out and said he will be more consistent than Marcos so will expect better results.
Okay - so we are five races into the 2015 Sprint Cup season - time to see how Sam Hornish Jr is doing in the 9 car compared to the first five races of last year's season.

Marcos - 2014
Race One - 30th
Race Two - 5th
Race Three - 24th
Race Four - 21st
Race Five - 18th
Average race finish - 20th

Sam - 2015
Race One - 12th
Race Two - 21st
Race Three - 24th
Race Four - 40th
Race Five - 43rd
Average race finish - 28th

So far, a big tick for Marcos :)

Interesting. I suppose we'll wait to see how the season pans out. The driver change at DJRTP is a little weird but again we just need to wait and see what happens later in the year. Having said that, not having FOXTEL so not being able to watch a race has left me a little disinterested at the moment.

Oh - that's a bugger... :( Especially with F1 also on Foxtel now.

To be honest, I haven't seen much of the V8s this year. I've been out of the house or watching the World Cup Cricket, but I guess I'll get some opportunity now the cricket is over.

Wow, it's been 12 months since we've graced this board. I think that shows how exciting this season has been across many of the categories.

Glad to see SVG win, despite it being RBRA. I'm excited about Scotty Mac being at DJR next season though. I'm also very excited about the potential of Alfa Romeo joining the category. Newcastle next year will be intriguing, I'm even considering going up to watch it.

Dan Ricciardo has proven himself to be a genuine champion hasn't he? He dragged that Red Bull car around the track and placed it higher than it probably deserved. Even being voted racer of the year by his peers. Looking forward to what he can do.

Imagine Jimmy Johnson winning number 7? Is he that good, is it his Engineer that is that good? Or is everyone else just not good enough?

Hi Anthony - great to see you back here.

Yes, can't believe it has been a year since we discussed the cars!  I have to admit that my viewing was hampered a lot by not having Foxtel.  I head over to my Dad's place (my old house) whenever there is a big race - Indy 500, Daytona, Bathurst etc, but for the most part I'm relying on what I can see on FTA and the internet.

How about JJ winning the Nascar championship?  He seemed the most unlikely winner of that race even with 15 laps to go, but all the luck went with him.  Phenomenal record 7 championships.  They even changed the chase format a few years ago to even the field and he still won.

Dan is terrific - he got more out of that car than he should have, but Verstappen looked terrific too went he wasn't too hot headed.  He might be quicker than Dan as well, but he needs to settle down a little (but then again, Vettel was crazy when he was first in F1 driving for Torro Rosso, but look how well he went in the end).

V8s still dominated by the cheats at Red Bull :) - and next year they'll have the formal factory money too...grrr... But Penske-DJR really improved and next year with Scotty should be great to watch.

I loved the Indy 500 this year with the rookie Alex Rossi winning - probably my favourite race of the year, but it was the only Indycar race I saw, so I don't really know what teams are in form for 2017.

Not long until the racing kicks off again - Daytona 500 is just 6 or 7 weeks away :D

Yes not long and it all starts again. Just in time for the NFL to be finished and the cricket to die down. I think racing this year will be different across all the different categories. I'm looking forward to it. Red Bull F1 should be on song again, and I'm real excited about Scotty at DJRTP. What I'm really looking forward to is Alfa Romeo coming into the category in 2018. How good will that be?

I'm investigating FOXTEL Play to see if it's worthwhile, live streaming of sport for a fraction of the costs appeals to me.
