Well, you may be interested in knowing that Danica Patrick (a female) is on pole position for the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

Of course, I'm sort of expecting her to cause a big wreck within 10 laps and take out half the field! :D

I follow a twitter account called LarkosWB (Larkos White Board), not sure if is Larko, but it's funny anyway. After qualifying they posted this comment, which I thought was a crack up, I even retweeted.

<<@LarkosWB: What's the big deal? Australian mum's drive Commodores fast every day. Let's see if #Danica can do that with 3 screaming kids in the back.>>

Hehe, you know it is bound to happen. There's going to be a lot of drivers and commentators walking on egg shells if it does. The PC brigade will be watching and listening like hawkes.

I watched the two duel races last night. Danica was on pole but very quickly drifted to the back of the pack, then dropped off the rear. Maybe she was just protecting the car for the big race - no use getting it torn up in a race than meant nothing to her as she has pole for the 500 anyway. Either that, or she just can't drive in a pack!

FROSTYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
YYAYAYAYAYAAYYYAYAY!!!!!!!!

Brilliant last hour of that race. Seeing Frosty hold off the Holdens for so many laps was amazing. To think that we had six cars all nose to tail at the end of that race, without the aid of a Safety Car for hours - that was pretty good.

I think that's the great thing about the race. It wasn't controlled or contrived by safety cars, it was a genuine tussle of speed and strategy. And FPR finally managed to tick all the boxes.

Did you watch Daytona Anthony?

We had a scheduled all-day power cut today as they were replacing a transformer in the substation around the corner, so we weren't able to record the live version on Speed - and a good thing too given the 6-hour weather delay!

So we just finished watching the 7pm replay on Speed with all the boring wet bits cut out :)

Good speed from Ambrose's car but he got a bit unlucky with the accidents.

I won't say any more until I know you've watched it!

Bottom line however - racing is back!!!

No I haven't watch it yet Keith, but was trying to follow the progress on twitter. Marcos did sound like he had pace but he has to try and keep himself out of trouble. Hopefully he can pull off a race win and make the chase this year with the new format. I'd like to try and catch it, but not sure I'll be able to.

I was disappointed, but glad I missed the test day. But Clipsal is coming, one of the best races of the year. Hope turn 8 becomes a red bull grave yard. Looking forward to see Chaz in an FPR rocket, he's a star on the threshold.

Speaking red bull, I really hope Infinity Red Bull sort out their problems so Ricciardo can really show what he can do. I'm really looking forward to seeing him pilot a top level car that can hopefully qualify in the top 4.

Ahh, gotta love the return of racing season!

he has to try and keep himself out of trouble.
I have to say he got dudded at Daytona by the weather. He had just pitted when the rain came so lost all his track position and was off sequence with the others he had been running with. That buried him in the pack during long sequences and he kept floating to the front when the others pitted. Unfortuneately, because he was racing in the pack due to his off-sequence pitting, he was always playing a lottery if a crash occured - which it did...

Yep - I can't wait for Clipsal this weekend and F1 in the coming weeks. I always love the first race of each year as you never know what the form is going to be like - despite pre-season testing. I think F1 is going to be very interesting this year. My loyalty is divided of course - I'd like to see Infinity Red Bull not be so dominant for once - but at the same time I want to see Daniel be successful (I'd love to see him out qualify Vettel!)

Anyway - bring it on!

Have they ever! Scott McLaughlin was definitely a rising star last year and showed what he could do by winning that race in NZ - but the way he's taken that Volvo to the front of the pack in their very first weekend is amazing. He has superstar written all over him. I'm sure the car is very good too - but I think the driver has a lot to do with this performance.

On a lighter note (and with a Disney angle) - did you know Anthony that you can get the diecast model of the Cars2 character "Frosty" from the Disney Store online? I order one when I renewed my D23 subscription this week :) See here:
http://www.disneystore.com/frosty-die-c ... 1/1000268/

I thought this was cool since he only appeared in the Australian and New Zealand versions of the movie!
