Did you see that Ford are withdrawing funding after next year? An end of a long era...
It is going to be a massive loss and will signal a big change I think in not only the landscape of the series, but direction it takes as well. But I'd like to hear more about this, whether it is a rumor only or if Ford have committed to withdrawing. I don't want to see the series head toward smaller turbos but I would like to see different body styles and encourage body shapes like the Mustang, Camaro, maybe the GTR, M4 or 5, and other makes.

That's what I'd like to see too - in all honesty, I think all the cars at the moment look exactly the same! Adding different body styles will provide some variety.

I can see the series being renamed in future though - I think it will end up being Australian Supercars or something similar - dropping the V8 tie-in.

I'm out all day today so I won't get to see any of the preliminary races or top-ten :( But I'll definitely be strapped into the TV-appreciation chair all day tomorrow :)

I'm the same, hoping to catch the top 10 though between events, but might miss it. They'll show it again tomorrow morning anyway.

I think the cars are also becoming samish on the track. However I don't mind the Volvos (don't tell anyone though :D ). And I agree that I too believe we'll see a rebranding and renaming eventually. One of the European series, DTM isn't it, have changed so it's only a matter of time. With the global push to higher performance smaller motors it's inevitable. Hell, I would even consider buying the Ecotec Mustang  !

Yep - his opening twenty laps were something special.

Action packed race but this red flag period is a little embarrassing...

I agree, I'm note sure it's going to last too many laps, but we'll wait and see.

Crazy race but looks like a grandstand sprint to the finish. Doh! Now Reynolds has stopped. Does no one want to win this race?

OMG!!!

So glad the Red Bulls missed the podium. Great for Chad but have mixed feelings to call Paul Morris a Bathurst winner LOL!

That was Bathurst at its unpredictable best!

WHAT A FINISH!!! That was simply edge of the seat stuff. I agree, so glad Red Bull failed. Lowndes could have easily pulled out on Frosty. Whincup thinks he bigger than his team. I'm shattered for Giz and also for McLaughlan, they were both awesome all day. But seeing Moff up there was great to see. Yeah, I tend to agree, mixed feelings about Morris being a winner, but how funny, all those years in a Holden, and then rolls up in a Ford and wins first time lol! I can't wait for Marcos to be back on track next year!

Wow - I missed that quote!

In all seriousness though - it was one of the best races I've ever seen (I'm not saying that it was professional and world-class though, at time it looked a little amateurish!). Dad and I were talking about it all night. It had everything that Bathurst is famous for. Unpredictability, crashes, kangaroos, come backs (lots of them), underdogs, top drivers & cars wrecking or falling apart, track breakups, high-speed crashes in safety car periods, you name it - it was in that race.

And that is why The Mountain is so revered by fans and drivers alike.

We'll be talking about that one for years - just like the 1-2 Falcon finish in 1977; The Rock; the hailstorm finish; and races of that ilk.

That red flag was incredible. Stopping cars on the grid and then allowig them to work on them was absurd. I'm also not sure their response to the track breaking up was the best, but I suppose they did seem to arrest it a little bit.

You've covered it off very well.

My brother in law and I were saying exactly the same thing, it was certainly a race for the ages. Throughout the whole day, you couldn't settle and know what to expect, and the finish will rate up there with the Lowndes / Bowe finish as well as other great races. Yes, this will be used in highlight reels for many many years. I thoroughly enjoyed this years race, aside from the fact a Ford won, and Red Bull didn't!

I'm interested to see how Hornish Jr shapes up in the 9. Mr The King (see what I did there? ) came out and said he will be more consistent than Marcos so will expect better results. The interview was a little damming on Marcos actually which indicated he may have been pushed last year or at least definitely this year. Daytona should be a classic if the first weekend is anything to go by.

Clipsal in 2 weeks, can't wait! I didn't get to the test day unfortunately but am looking forward to getting some track action happening with the FG-X already looking stronger as are the Nissans. However watching the test day highlights show on ten, I'm not looking forward to Greg Rust on a regular basis, but time will tell.
