That is exactly how I am every day reading the Game of Thrones books!

I've only got about 200 pages of book two to complete and I'm also watching an episode of season one every night on DVD (only have four more episodes to watch). The TV series is brilliant by the way - just make sure you've read book one first!
Finished book one last night and read the first chapter of Clash of Kings this morning, after reading the lists of names of the Great Houses. I must admit I was disappointed at the end of the first book - it didn't seem to really round off or anything. I mean, I know there are more books, but I was hoping for some kind of ending before the next one started. Don't ask me what I wanted exactly, I just know that I didn't get it!

Gotta say, I really love digital books. I remember back in the old days (like last year, pre-iPad  ), when I'd finish one book and would have to wait until I could visit a library or bookstore before reading the next installment - not always easy when you have small munchkins. Now, I just go to the iBooks store or my library webpage and download the next book in seconds. The digital age is wonderful for people low on patience like myself :D

Lost count of the times I have read or listened to that series.

Just read the Grey trilogy: Fifty shades grey, fifty shades darker and fifty shades freed. Great stories if you can get past the soft porn on every second page.

Oh started Game of Thrones but can't quite get into it, possibly because I was reading it as my plane from Tamworth landed in the cyclonic conditions Sydney had earlier this week. I just imagined I was on a roller coaster but had to refrain from throwing my arms up in the air as I am want to do!

Haven't posted on this thread in a while but thought I might today.

I'm reading a book called "Of Dice and Men" - it is a history of Dungeons and Dragons. It is a great read for anyone interested in pop culture and the attitudes towards things not quite understood. I remember in the 1980's when D&D was seen as something dangerous and corruptible (in fact, my Mum was horrified when she found out I played it - she had seen the famous 60 Minutes news story about it causing murders and suicides - LOL).

Likewise, I have just finished a book called "Jacked - a history of Grand Theft Auto" - which mirrors the exact same attitudes to video games in the mid-2000s - a fear of the violence and corruption of society. I guess these attitudes have always been around - such as Elvis music corrupting people in the 1950s to Bart Simpson corrupting kids in the early 1990s! In time, it all seems quite tame (there is probably a PhD topic in there for someone to pursue!)

So - has anyone else read anything interesting lately?

I've been meaning to read the Game of Thrones series ( now that I'm hooked on the TV version) for the longest time so am putting that on my 'to-do over the uni-break' list.

But right now, I'm reading 'scholarly reviews, journals, short stories and how-to's' for Uni assessments. Not nearly as interesting as GoT.

I have had 2 attempts at Game of Thrones and then even tried the audiobook but I just can't stick at it - much to Angus's disgust!

LOL Beth, thats funny... mostly because Millie has read all the books in the series so far ( and drives me barmy letting details 'slip' from time to time) and I can't tell you how many times she has scoffed that I'll never stick it out through all the books...
So for no other reason, I will need to stick to it and read it. ;)
