A graphic novel is just a fancy way of saying comic.
Wrapped in a hard cover!

I think the bustiness of all the female characters challenges the credibility of their intellectualism!
Ahhhh - so that's why the nerds are all reading them!

I'm reading "Julie & Julia" I haven't seen the movie (I'm sure Keith did because of Amy Adams ) and I am struggling to finish it. Just not my cup of tea. I just want to smack Julie. Anyone else read this?

No - I missed this because I really hate cooking and cooking shows and cooking personalities...they just don't do anything for me.

I will be lining up to see Amy in the new Muppet movie however - roll on November :D

I'm currently reading a series of time travelling books by Connie Willis - where a group of scientist/historians go back to World War II but their actions seem to change the course of history and possibly prevent time travel being invented so they get stuck there. Connie Willis's science fiction novels are great.

I'm still on the Cross Stitch series. I'm up to Drums of Autumn with about 200 pages left. I'm really hoping to finish it before bubs arrives otherwise I don't know if I'll ever finish it.

I'm ordering the Twilight series today. I've read them all, but decided I'd like my own copy (I am a huge patron of the library since we have nowhere to store books), because like HP, I think I'd like to re-visit them frequently. Very excited...it's been ages since I bought myself a book!

Love stories written by a boy.

He wrote the books The Notebook, Dear JOhn, A Walk to Remember and the LAst Song.

I have moved on now to a series that Eloise demand I read - THe House of Night. By P.C. Cast and Kirsten Cast. A more joyful look at teenage vampires than Twilight - very easy to read. I started on Friday and will start book 3 tonight. Once I finish those its back to re read the CLan of the Cave Bear Books with the last of the series being released on the 29th March

On Sunday I got the last book in the Sara Donati series "into the wilderness" that you put me on to Sandie. I quite like the series but I am happy for it to end. The Outlander/Cross stitch series though will be a very sad day when it ends.

Has anyone here been reading Matthew Reilly's books? I think Beth mentioned them some time ago.

Wayne has been harassing me for a long time to start reading them, but I always put it off because I didn't want to start a new author - that would mean collecting a back catalog.

Anyway - Della's mum bought me a Reilly book at Christmas and I recently read it...and immediately went out and bought all the rest. Lots of action (and exploding heads...) and stories that are totally unbelievable but for some reason you have to read the next chapter...and the next...

They are just pulp rollercoaster entertainment (and his new book is due later this year!)

Interestingly, he has his young-adult's book, Hovercar Racer, optioned with Disney at the moment for a film - if it gets the green light, I think we'll have to invite him to a meeting, he lives in Sydney after all :D

Yes they are quite gripping (except for the head business)

I read pillars of the earth years ago but have just started on some more Ken Follet which are very well written unlike the Nora Roberts that I also have been ploughing through (no grey matter required)

I've read a couple of Matthew Reiley books, I enjoyed them. You're right Keith, plenty of action. I particularly liked Contest, which was his first written but not first released I think.

I went with my daughters to their young leaders conferences that the DET hold every year and one year he was one of the speakers, and he is great. Connects well with the kids and speaks very well. He is self published as no publishing house would touch him when he started. A great story of determination. He had actually just signed a US network deal when he spoke that day, so he has a bright and lucrative future that's for sure.
