Well, it is New Year's Eve 2012-13, so I thought I'd pull together my annual review of movies I went and saw, and seek your input on what was good in 2012 and what you want to see in 2013.

This year probably has the lowest movie count ever for Della and me as far as cinema attendances went. Here is what we saw:
The Muppets - quite enjoyed this film (it had Amy Adams in it)
Brave - a good Pixar film, but not an all time classic (I'll need to watch it on bluray again soon)

...and that's it for 2012 at the cinema! Although we are going to see Wreck it Ralph today in the City.

I saw a number of other movies released this year on video:
The Avengers - I enjoyed this, but not as much as the fan boys appeared to have. I thought it a bit too long.
The Dark Knight Rises - saw this last week and loved it - my movie of the year.
The Bourne Legacy - also saw this last week, and whilst it was good, I preferred the Matt Damon Bourne movies.

So what do I want to see next year?
The Hobbit - yes it is out, hopefully I'll see it in the next couple of days!
Oz the Great and Powerful - he trailers look interesting, although I've never been into the land of Oz. We'll see how this one goes.
Ironman 3 - I don't mind these movies, but they do seem to drag them out a little too long!
Star Trek into Darkness - I really liked the first Star Trek reboot - so hopefully this keeps the franchise momentum.
The Hangover Part 3 - These films make me laugh, but hopefully this will be the last of them.
Man of Steel - the new Superman reboot - the trailers look spectacular (and Amy Adams is Lois Lane)
Monsters University - can't wait for this, the premise has me laughing before we've even seen any of the film!
The Lone Ranger - I haven't been impressed with the trailers, but it is Johnny Depp as Tonto, so I guess I'll have to see it.
The Hobbit part 2 - obviously!
Frozen - Disney's next animated classic based on the Snow Queen story - I have no idea yet what we are in for...

Anyway - how was your cinema year and what's big for you in 2013?
Keith

I missed LOTS of movies I wanted to see this year at the cinema... so I have a long list of 2012 movies that I still want to see as well .

ok, I saw these movies at the cinema:

- The Hunger Games - which I LOVED!!! I also read the whole series before the movie came out and can't wait for the next installment.
- Brave - I also loved this one. I've seen it several times on Bluray since and its definitely one of my favs of the last few years.
- Snow White and the Huntsman - and I loved that too... going to buy it to watch again.

This years movies I've seen elsewhere:

- The Avengers - I've watched this twice now, and have to say, its the best 'superhero' movie in my book.
- Prometheus - should have stopped watching this after 5 minutes... two thumbs down.
- John Carter - LOVED it... the critics got that one wrong.
- Battleship - surprisingly, I really enjoyed this.
- What to expect when you're expecting - BORING and boring. and Twee.
- Madagascar 3 - LOVED IT!!! these movies never get old... funny as.
- Five Year Engagement - again, boring.
- The Lorax - cute with a thinly veiled environmental message.

I'm going to see The Hobbit tomorrow, and look forward to seeing Monsters Inc U, Man of Steel, Le Mis, Oz great and powerful and the Lone Ranger and probably heaps more.

There are so many movies from this last year that I still want to see as well - Skyfall, that Marigold hotel movie, The quartet, Loopers, and again, probably heaps more. I didn't watch nearly enough movies this year.
1999- Tokyo DL, 2008- DLR/Cal Adventure, 2012-DLR/Cal Adventure, 2013-Tokyo DLand/Sea, 2014-DLR/Cal Adventure, 2015- Paris DL, 2016 - WDW/Disneycruise , upcoming - May 2018 - HongKong DL

Five Year Engagement - again, boring.
Really? I almost wet my pants in this one! I will see if I can remember what I saw at the cinema:

Hunger Games - 5 stars
Gone With the Wind – it was amazing to see this classic on the big screen
Pretty Woman – ditto! I think I saw this 15 times in its original screening so I was happy to see it back!
Breaking Dawn Part 2 – also 5 stars
5 Year Engagement
Life of Pi – was ok, maybe I was not in a receptive mood.
Brave- 3 stars
Magic Mike – 1 star
Mental – 4 stars
Titanic 3D – 5 stars
Kath and Kimderella – 1 star
Friends with Kids – 1 star
Pitch Perfect – 3.5 stars
The Lucky One – 3 stars
Frankenweenie – 5 Stars (this got an extra star now that I have (almost) met Tim Burton
This Means War – 3 stars
The Watch – 3 stars
Alex Cross – 3 stars

I know that seems like a lot but we go to Chicks at the Flickes every month so that accounts for 11 of them!

and in other places:
The Best Exotic Marigold Motel (on the plane)
Battleship and Lorax (with Lisa on a bus)

Here we go again - time for our annual review of movies we saw and what we want to see in 2014.

Della and I saw a few more movies this year at the cinema than in 2012 but still not as many as we had planned.
Wreck-it-Ralph - While I liked this movie, it seems everyone else liked it more than I did. I think the movie spent too much time in Sugar Rush. It did have the best short attached to it however - Paperman was just outstanding.
Monsters University - this was a fun movie but I still think it lacked a little something which I can't put my finger on.
The Lone Ranger - I liked this film, it kept moving nicely and had a story my simple mind could follow. Quite violent in spots but it wasn't the disaster of a picture the critics (and bad box office) would have us think.
Frozen - this is hands down my movie of the year for 2013. It deserves the big box office numbers that it is pulling at the moment. A Disney Classic.

2013 Movies on Bluray
Argo - I loved this film and think it deserved the Best Picture Oscar, Ben Afleck should have got the Best Director Oscar too.
Hobbit Pt 1 - How did this go so wrong? Oh yeah, they padded it out which so much stuff I was bored for the first 1.5 hours - the second half was much better.
Ironman 3 - I really enjoyed this, probably my favourite of the Avenger movies so far.
Star Trek Into Darkness - I was disappointed by this - nowhere near as good as the first Star Trek reboot movie. I was bored.
Man of Steel - this is the surprise movie of the year. Critics didn't really like it, but I loved every minute of it. I went in with no expectations and was entertained throughout - so was my Dad which is saying something. Oh yeah, it also had Amy Adams in it...

Films I missed but will get on Bluray:
Elysium, Oz the Great and Powerful, Gravity, Rush, Thor: The Dark World

So, what will we be watching in 2014? There is nothing great on the radar that I've been hanging for expect for Saving Mr. Banks - really looking forward to this; Maleficent which looks great based on the short teaser we've seen so far; and Tomorrowland which I know nothing about but the Disney viral marketing campaign leading up to the D23 Expo last year has me intrigued! This is the first year in ages that no Pixar movie is being released!

Other films I'll be interested in seeing but not necessarily at the cinema:
Hobbit Pt 2 (New Line) - I'll wait for the Bluray.
Captain America: Winter Soldier (Disney Marvel) - Looking forward to this, but Della doesn't watch Marvel, so I'll get the Bluray - I'm not a fan boy so I don't need to line up at the cinema.
Muppets Most Wanted (Disney) - Della will want to see this, but I could easily wait if I have to.
Guardians of the Galaxy (Disney Marvel) - I have no idea what this is about so I'll wait for the Bluray.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Fox) - I loved the first film but don't need to see this at the cinema.
Big Hero 6 (Disney Animation Studios/Marvel)

So how was 2013 movie-wise for you?
Keith

Les miserables
I forgot about this one - I saw it on Bluray...snore...I couldn't watch it in one session as I nodded off. Unusual for me as I like music and this film looked (visually) amazing, but I found it tedious to watch.

(Apologies to lovers of this film!)

I honestly can't remember all the movies this year..but I'll have a go.

At the cinema:

Monsters U
Wreck it Ralph
The Hobbit Pt 1
Catching Fire

Les Mis - liked it, but glad I saw it on DVD ... soooooo long
The heat
The whole Ironman series(love love love)
Thor 1
The Great and powerful Oz
The whole Downton Abbey so far (1,2,3)
The whole Fringe - yes, every season
Taken
Epic
Jack the Giant slayer
Django Unchained
White House Down
Olympus has Fallen
The hangover 3
The Lone Ranger
The Host
Hansel and Gretel Witch hunters ( meh)
Pacific Rim
probably more but can't remember ;)

LOL - pick something with Sylvester Stallone in it, the only thing that would make you cry is the acting...
