Breaking News: It's Pirate Land - but not as we hoped!

Postby Loomis » Thu Apr 12, 2007 10:23 pm

Pirates stormed Hong Kong Disneyland today, negotiating with senior management to claim Adventureland as their temporary headquarters in what is to become the Pirate Takeover - an authentic and immersive pirate experience set to delight and dare the senses. This is a timely event to celebrate the upcoming release of the third movie in Disney's blockbuster trilogy, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” which opens in theaters in Hong Kong on May 24, 2007.

The Pirate Takeover will kick off on May 4 until June 30, 2007 and will allow guests to step back in time to a place where pirates reined over the seas vying for treasure. A total experience that only Hong Kong Disneyland can provide, the Pirate Takeover will immerse guests in a world of mischief, singing and revelry as pirate adventures are vividly brought to life.

Hey there Loomis - there was an article on Laughing Place this week that suggested that the Hong Kong SAR Government were not willing to sink any more large capital funds into HKDL given the current visitor numbers, and as a result, WDI have placed the mega Pirateland expansion on indefinite hold.

Have any of your spies been able to dig the dirt on this?

This would be a tragedy - a major new land is just what the park needs to boost its numbers!

This is not something we have heard much more about, however, we are in two minds about it.

On the one hand, Hong Kong SAR owns 57% of the place, so if they withhold money, then it is a big loss to Disney. On the other, Disney is dead in the water if the park remains stagnant. And there is that unexplained construction behind Adventureland...

Thanks for that - we continue to await official news of that construction...

Until we hear one way or the other, we just have to hope for the best!
