Thinking of everyone in Paris and France.

I dont now what to say about this. It certainly hasn't put me off traveling but it makes me feel like I should be a little more wary. Even the bombing in Bangkok was at an intersection I have walked through hundreds of times.

Disneyland Paris was closed on Saturday. Very sad...

Disneyland Paris remains closed and will now reopen on Wednesday.

A dark question but, are Disney parks a viable target for things like this?

Yep - that's my assessment too. When we were there in 2006, there were armed guards everywhere outside the gates (and I mean armed with machine guns), so I don't think it is a very soft target, they'd get picked off at the security gates. I noticed that since the shootings a fortnight ago, they've installed scanners at Disneyland Paris before you can enter the parks.

I really think that any theme park would be a target for the sheer numbers within its confines. However, I think Disney parks are more like an iceberg security wise - meaning that a large percentage of the security is not seen by the public but very much there. I don't think I'd want to see it either, the uniforms kind of say 'something's up' to me and would add to fear factor. When we were visiting the Paris parks in January, they had metal detectors ( like at the airport) and bags went through an Xray machine... it was quick and efficient, and dare I say it, but probably quicker and more effective that the physical bag check. Not sure if it was a new thing or something they've always had, but I think in light of recent events, that would be good to adopt in the other parks as well without increasing peoples overall fear level.
