DisneySea Gets Fantasmic

Wow - I didn't see this coming. For a long time, there has been a rumour going around that Tokyo DisneySea would replace the excellent BraviSEAmo with The World of Color - however today, it was announced that DisneySea will be getting a modified Fantasmic instead. Can't wait to see how they put this together. I'm guessing they have to use a floating stage for the main presentation. Also, as the lake in DisneySea covers 360 degrees, I wonder if it will make Fantasmic a 360 degree show? Time will tell!

The Oriental Land Company have released the first piece of concept art for the new Fantasmic that will open in Tokyo Disneysea in 2011 for the 10th Anniversary of TDS.

Here is a link to the press release and the concept art (pdf file).

And ten years later (can't believe I started this thread ten years ago!) Tokyo Disneysea have announced that Fantasmic will end in March 2020 - so get along up there if you haven't seen this unique version of this show.

Personally, I'm not upset about this - Fantasmic was good but to be perfectly honest, I preferred BraviSEAmo - and I think it was because it wasn't Disney-character centric. Whereas Fantasmic stuffed every character imaginable into it and was over the top - BraviSEAmo had no characters and told a new story in a uniquely Tokyo Disneysea style.  If they bring BraviSEAmo back even for a short fill in while they prepare a new night show, I'd probably head up there to see it!

There is no news on a replacement however, so we'll have to wait and see what it planned.  Seems strange though to get rid of the night show just before Tokyo is flooded with tourist for the Olympics next year.

Wow, we are a bit of a time capsule here. :-)

Tokyo has the Olympics next year? How did I not know that?

The only way I remember is that it's three Disney cities in a row - Tokyo in 2020, Paris 2024 and LA 2028.

I didn't realise that about the olympics...that would make three pretty cool trips (but very expensive ones!).  I'm glad I lived in Sydney in 2000 - I think that'll be the only Olympics I'll ever experience.

I believe Brisbane is bidding for an Olympics - I just hope that means we get a Disney Park to go with it.  Not sure Disney would agree......

Could Brisbane handle an Olympics? I assume they would have to farm events out to other places in Australia. How did the Commonwealth Games go?

Brisbane would need to rely on outer regions to host an Olympics
Comm Games went well from what I know, I saw Rhythmic Gymnastics - transport, security etc was all managed very well

The current situation in Australia would not be helping Brisbane's prospects  guess.

Speaking of which, I hope everyone is safe and out of harms way. My parents are on the Gold Coast and say that things are okay there.
