Talk Turtle With Crush

Postby KeithS » Sat Nov 01, 2008 8:00 am

Well, it is finally official. Tokyo Disneysea has formally announced that Talk Turtle With Crush will be built next year inside the SS Columbia in Tokyo Disneysea.

Remember that you heard it here on our website first!
http://www.dudisneyana.info/forum/viewt ... 5232#p5232
(yes - this is the HK forum, but I had a much bigger post on new TDR attractions on the temp forum...but they are gone)

A lot of the websites are not too happy about its inclusion at Tokyo Disneysea, given that park has nearly 100% unique attractions - and Crush is seen as a bit of a dumbing down in quality on what is already there. I also doubt that it will be something worth visiting for us, as I cannot imagine they will play English language sessions, given the lack of foreign visitors to the Japanese parks (unlike Hong Kong and Paris where they have different language sessions on the Stitch Encounter attraction).

I just assumed he was Californian. I don't think I've ever heard an Australian using language like he did and I live on the Gold Coast. In fact, at the risk of stirring up some controversy, I would say that he definitely isn't Australian.

Greg

PS And I still think the seagulls sounded like they were saying "mine" not "mate".

Crush is a Californian surfer dude - he is not an Aussie so no need for Japanese aussie accent.

Yes, that seagulls say "Mine" - I don't know where the "mate" quote came from but I've heard that a few times - maybe there was a dodgy Chinese pirate DVD with bad subtitles? :D

When the movie first came out there was a lot of discussion over what they said exactly. I've never been convinced one way or the other.

Fighting over food they would say "mine" but when you first see them they are just sitting around so it makes more sense for them to say "mate", and it is set in Australia for an American audience after all.

Virtual high five for the agreement on Crush, Keith!

I will admit that the first time I heard them I thought they were saying mate, but after that, mine was definitely what I was hearing.

And I'm sticking with Crush an Aussie Surfer. Afterall, why would a Californian be riding the EAC?!

And today, Tokyo Disneyland has announced that it will replace the (creaky) Mickey Mouse Review (MMR) with Mickey's Philharmagic. The Mickey Mouse Review, while a bit creaky, is still a very nice attraction and looked fabulous (the exception being the opening movie which was VERY dated - being unchanged since the early 1970's when it was at WDW). However, modern audiences need modern attractions and Mickey's Philharmagic is pretty cool. And the theatre where MMR is, is beautiful - I hope they keep the seating etc like they have now. In fact, the seats were so comfortable, I was nodding off - and when the lights came up, there were a lot of people asleep! Maybe that is why the attraction is going!

Fortunately - our intrepid Japanese tourists on this website will get to see MMR one more time - it is not closing until May 2009 - MP will open sometime in 2011.

Now if only Country Bear Jamboree could also play its last round... :)

Now that is a bummer - but you'll get to see Monsters Inc - so that isn't a bad trade!
