International student program

Postby ajp » Fri Apr 04, 2014 4:16 pm

Our eldest daughter Jessica, today attended an interview for a placement on the international student program at WDW commencing in August. If she was to be successful, it would be simply awesome for her. She'll know within the next 4 weeks. I'm really hoping she has been successful. I'll let you know the outcome once we know.

It's an incredible opportunity for her, literally once in a lifetime. She isn't really an excitable person but she was really excited when she got the email yesterday. She will do well I'm sure and have many stories and photos to share when she's finished.

They've only offered 6 months Lisa. If they're short of staff when they've finished the next intake they may offer another 6 months, but there isn't much chance that may happen.

6 months will be exciting though -/

I know when I finished my travel course at Tafe, we could apply for 6 or 12 months and one of the guys did actually go for 12 months but he wished he'd only signed up for 6.

How fantastic!

And from a mum who has just survived a child overseas for 6 months - I understand all your emotions!

Jess has been given a position in Operations. She will either be working an attraction, or working on an entry gate in a park somewhere. She may be required for crowd control, doing the parades, doing scripted announcements (I figure this is either jungle cruise or during peak times and closures). Essentially she may be doing anything in a park. She's happy with this, it was her preferred option. It's one of the lower paid jobs but she's not there for the money. I told her she will be flat chat from October to mid Januray! Earlier if she's working in Epcot. Now have to get the health insurance and visa sorted.

So when does she leave Anthony? Sounds like she'll have some great opportunities over there. Can't wait to hear the stories start flowing back to us!

She has to report on August 5th, so I'd like her to arrive 2nd or 3rd to make sure she has adjusted by the time she starts. Her official finish date is Janurary 25th.
