Fastpass Trials

Disney's Hollywood Studio is trialling Fastpass for Fantasmic this week. I'm guessing it'll be similar to how the World of Color Fastpass works at DCA. As with World of Color, getting a Fantasmic Fastpass won't affect getting one for a normal attraction.

This is a five-day only trial and I think it will be used by Disney to gauge guest reactions and crowd flows.

Last week I mentioned the Fastpass trial for Fantasmic - well this week they are trialling Fastpasses for parade viewing at the Magic Kingdom. The trial involves providing Fastpass exclusive areas in the Town Square for both the daytime parade and the nightly Main Street Electrical Parade. For this trial, guests will be randomly handed Fastpasses (you don't get them from a machine).

This trial will take place this coming week and will gauge guest reaction.

These trials are very important to the introduction of the Fastpass+ system and guest ability to pre-book what they want to do at the parks via the Internet prior to their holiday.

So what do you think? Is it a good idea to have a preselected spot for your parade viewing and other attraction experiences, or do you think this will take out some of the spontaneity of your visits?

It's difficult to be spontaneous for parades, fireworks etc, because if you leave it late, getting a good spot is a challenge. As long as you can still find non reserved locations, I think it's a good idea, that has merit.

I think its a great idea in theory, but I hope that there are 'good' spots still up for grabs if you don't have a FP or the whole thing would be a bit disappointing or you could leave feeling like you missed a bit of magic perhaps.

I really hope that all the available 'magic' isn't up for sale, or those traveling on a tight budget could be in danger of having an inferior experience. For those who can't afford to buy magic it'd be a bit sad to travel there and know you couldn't have that magic moment by chance.
That after all, is where the magic lies.

I don't mind this either. It is especially good for people visiting overseas so that we know that we'll have at least one or two great viewings of a parade (or other show) without having to stake out a spot for 60 minutes or more. I'm sure there will still be plenty of walk-up spots for shows and parades - so bring it on I say.
