2,000,000,000 Park Visitor!

Postby KeithS » Wed May 03, 2006 9:45 pm

I see that Disney greeted it honourary 2 billionth(!) Park guest on the 2nd May. The 2 billion figure is the combined entry receipts for all the Disney Parks combined.

The guest was visiting Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The 12 year old guest and her entire family of 10 were granted life time passes to all the Disney Parks worldwide.

Now how lucky is that!

Now if only that happened last year - I was there on the 2nd of May (I used my early entry that day too - so I was head of the line!) - Oh well, maybe next time!

Okay, call me anal but to put that number into perspective...

If you were to count to 2 billion, saying one number each second it would take you almost 63.5 years! Mind blowing.

Yeah, it is a large number of bodies, but I guess when WDW alone has well over 100,000 people a day through its park gates - well I guess the numbers can rack up pretty quickly...

Oh my god!!! :o I'm going to have to make sure I get there early because I'd hate to be at the end of that queue to get in.

The cynic in me says "Gee, I'm glad it was a 12 year old all-american girl and not a 40 year old male foreign visitor"

I have a feeling that these sort of guests are chosen by marketing and not as 'random' as we're led to believe.

Other boards have instances of times when cast have been overheard saying things like "that one there - she's perfect" (or of similar nature) - remember the Gift Giver Extraordinaire for the 35th ?

Still, lucky girl and her family.

I had never thought of that. I guess it makes sense though, a 12 year old "all american" and family would be much easier to market. Now what can I do to make myself more marketable?

I also think that there was a certain degree of unrandomness in major prizes like that - however the "Year of a Million Dreams" that is currently operating around the world looks very random. The prize giving is being vetted by Pricewaterhouse Coopers to ensure randomness. I should know - I tried my hardest to get free stuff from the prize givers, but they were adament they could only give out stuff based on very specific times and places.

Wouldn't do it based on good looks and sincerity, huh? :D

They probably do, but I failed in both of them :) Maybe that's why I never got anything!

But your avatar and abundance of Disney Princess photos shows you have a certain something. 8)
