Counterfeit Chinese Disneyland

Postby KeithS » Sat May 05, 2007 1:46 pm

You have probably all seen this by now - but I post it here for those who haven't:
http://www.japanprobe.com/?p=1678

A fake Disneyland has been built near Beijing, including fake Disney characters and castle. The park was uncovered by a Japanese television crew. The link above includes pictures of the park. What is more disturbing is the fact that it appears to be a state-run operation - i.e. using Government money and approval, which flies in the face of their supposed efforts to reduce counterfeiting.

Take a look and give us your opinion!

I wonder if it was uncovered by the same Japanese film crew who found out rich Japanese had been buying lambs under the belief they were poodles!

Oh my Giddy Aunt.....

a cat with very large ears :?: :?: :?:

I suppose the person responsible for rubber stamping this project is sitting there right now with their fingers in their ears and doing the 'la la la la la la' thing so they can't hear the furor that this must surely whip up.

I've only glanced through ( I'm on my lunch break) but so far I am gobsmacked.

How could they possibly think they could get away with this?

Is this even real? Its not April 1st again is it?

I'm going to have to try and digest this while I'm trying to teach a scrapping class this afternoon..... :?

It is about to get into the mainstream media, and when it does, the real excitement will begin :)

I've already seen it on Slashdot and Engadget which are tech news sites which are monitored by mainstream news services, so expect to see it breakout soon and let the fun begin :D

Ok, I've read it all again and I am still stunned that this hasn't come to light before this.
How could they build something that big, have that many people involved in its day to day running and it not have gotten out to the rest of the world before it was even built.

Does anyone know how long it's been operational?
Surely word would have spread like wildfire once it opened.

Walt would be turning in his cryogenic chamber. I'd hate to be in the people responsible's shoes when the Disney Corp make their return volley.

I think we might see the smoke from here.

Are you sure this isn't just a hoax?
It does seem absolutely unbelievable that a Disneyland clone could exist without everyone knowing within a nanosecond.

No - it is the real deal, I've had a look at their official website:
http://www.bs-amusement-park.com/

And I found the park on Google Earth at
Lat: 39 degrees, 54'37.83"N
Long: 116 degrees, 12'09.65"E

Go have a look :D

(Just noticed this is my 600th post! - and I think 20 of them were actually interesting!)

I love Google Earth ...

I never even thought of looking from the air.
Nope.....
Think I'll stick to the real thing.

and that slogan sucks.... " because Disneyland is too far"

I laughed out loud when I read that. Bit of a worry if proximity is their only claim to fame.

The fall out from all this is going to be fun to watch I think....

thats getting perilously close to 'needs a life' level Keith.... :)
- and I think 20 of them were actually interesting!)

Don't be so hard on yourself.... at least 25 of them were entertaining

hehe..only joking....

Hmmm... although, at 337 posts, I am now in the 'really, really old' level myself so let the 'over the hill' joke-fest begin.
Oh, wait...... only people that have more posts than me are allowed to take part....
