This is tragic!

I've been waiting for the launch of this site for so long, and now that it is up, we cannot get to it...

I've got a couple of very good IT people at work, I'll tackle them tomorrow with this and see if they know how it can be worked around. I'm guessing Disney is doing some IP checking, so we may have to operate through a US proxy.

The Australian website looks pretty lame...

I'm also wondering if this is just temporary as they are expecting a huge amount of traffic on the site over the next few days - let's hope so :)

This seems a consistent approach to how they run other parts of the business. I have booked 2 holidays through Disney travel and was unable to use the online facility to complete the transaction due to me not being a US or Canadian resident. It is OK to do it over the phone, but not online, which in this day and digital age, is quite bizarre.

The Disneyland site is still accessible, and they don't recognise if you're from US or other (I checked this by accessing it twice, 1 direct and 1 from the Australian website link and did a quote for a holiday package - both in US dollars, even though the URL did have a redirection address from the Australian site).

Also remember the year books weren't available to non US/CA residents. My beef is that I used this site to navigate to the other Disney sites, like the other parks, corporate news as well as the shopping site (although this may now save me some money). Lets hope, as you suggest, that it is a temporary measure until the expected peak in traffic abates a little.

Yep - it looks like they blocked the site just for the first day to manage traffic levels. Everything is working fine now and you can connect through the normal http://www.disney.com

And it does look awesome! Guess I'll be doing some exploring tonight :)

Had a bit of a look and I like it. It's a little more intuitive to use and easy to navigate. Its interactive and I also like the use of the multimedia as well. However for those on slow connections or limited download, I could imagine this would cause some concern. But overall a positive improvement. It is very Disney, which is not a bad thing either!
