Disney-David Jones

This was a big news story during the week.  Greg put it in the Disney news section, but it probably deserves a separate thread too.

Disney have been out of the retail market here, but with the tie in with David Jones, things might be looking up.  It isn't a return of the old Disney Stores, but it looks like it'll be a themed shopping experience to some degree.  I'm guessing the merchandising will just be the standard retail Disney products - but I did note in one of the articles that there will be exclusive merchandising (whatever that means).

This, along with the renaming of Dockland stadium in Melbourne to Marvel Stadium (and the associated Marvel store down there) is all good for us Disney fans

Wayne has been speaking to Disney Australia to try and ascertain the opening date for the David Jones Disney floor.  Once we find that out, we'll post it here.

Don't forget - the David Jones Disney floor will open at the Elizabeth Street store on Thursday 29 November.  Members of the club are planning on going to the opening.  The store opens at 9:30am, however Wayne will be lining up at the entrance to the store from 8am (the main entrance is on Market Street).

The celebrations for the opening will stretch over the weekend, so if you can't make the opening, you'll see be able to see some of the entertainment over the following days.

Hmmm - I've got some views on the new DJs/Disney floor, but I'll wait until more people have had a chance to visit the place themselves.

On the face of it - they've done a great job at integrating the Disney themeing with non-Disney stuff and the place looks terrific, but there is a bit of DJs influence that steals some magic.  Tomorrow the club is having a trip there, so I won't say any more until after that
