I'll let Greg add the links to the news articles but the Disney-Fox merger was announced formally today.

I never thought I'd see the day when The Simpsons would become a Disney asset! So many questions remain of course as it will be a long integration. Fox have so many interesting properties; some obviously fit well such as Avatar and the Fox Marvel characters including X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool. But there are some weird things too...for instance, will they keep Blue Sky Animation open (Ice Age, Ferdinand)?

It gives Disney a big boost in Europe and India, and also gives them a big chunk of Netflix's main rival, Hulu. I assume that Disney's new streaming service will just be a rebadged Hulu now.

Lots to look forward to here, as long as the authorities give it the go ahead which I think will happen.

I've seen more reports that it will go ahead than that it won't so you're probably right.

But is this just too big to be healthy?

There must be be merchandising people at Disney just about wetting themselves in excitement over this.
