The whole Disney pulling out of Netflix is interesting.  I was wondering if that was just a ploy to reduce the Netflix share price before them stepping in to snap it up.  Disney do like to buy established brands and Netflix is the biggest brand in that video streaming area.  It would seem unlikely that they'd start up a rival from scratch with just Disney content - why would you subscribe?  If they got Netflix, they'd also have a service to stream their ESPN content which is suffering as cable subscribers diminish.

Disney had been linked to Netflix take over about a year ago - so I wouldn't be surprised if that is still on the cards...

That would be some nice 3D chess but I guess it does make sense especially since "Netflix" is virtually the generic term for streaming video. How much would Netflix be worth?

Netflix would be worth a lot - but so was Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.  Maybe its value is too much and that ship might have sailed.  Time will tell

I guess that buying and owning Netflix and keeping it as Netflix would enable them to show things (and keep making original shows) that would not fit as comfortably under a "Disney" branded service.
