Magic Kingdom To Serve Alcohol

Hey guys, you have probably all see this but Disney have decided to serve alcohol in the new Be Our Guest Restaurant in the new fantasy land area. It seems people are up in arms about this all over Disney websites. Whats your thoughts?

There seems to be pretty strict condidions like only being sold with dinner and not being able to leave the resturant etc.

I dont really see the problem is Disney really have to do it. But is seems unessacary as well.

Yep - I have mixed views on this. I read that the no alcohol in a Magic Kingdom park was originally initiated by Walt Disney himself, but they eventually had to introduce it in Paris due to cultural reasons. And of course, Club33 has always served it. I think having a single table service restaurant serving high-priced alcohol at dinner isn't going to result in crowds of people stumbling around off their chops. And the non-Magic Kingdom parks serve alcohol now anyway.

I guess the downer is that it is breaking with tradition, and with Disneyphiles being nostalgia fans, that is what is really causing the drama.

I imagine they will have some serious 'responsible service of alcohol' rules in place and it's likely to lend a certain exclusivity to that restaurant.

I guess you can always argue nostalgia and tradition but if that was a valid argument then the Disney parks would have long been overtaken by other parks and probably wouldn't exist today. They have to change to survive.

As long as they do it in a Disney way.
