RU23?

Postby Gerard » Tue Mar 10, 2009 12:51 pm

Now I know what it is, Disney will anounce it during the shareholders meeting on the 10th (tomorrow our time).

It looks like a new offical Disney fan club with a periodical and event in September

Della and I have been asking this question all day. We also wonder if we can subscribe to the magazine - heck, they are selling the magazine in newsagents in the US, so it shouldn't be too hard to get.

We are also interested in the official convention - we were planning on heading to the US in October, but we may now consider attending the expo in September instead...just a thought...

if these conventions are anything like the old offical conventions then they would be well worth going to.

I believe the high cost in postage is due to the magazines subscription

click on the Join D23 buttion on this link and it will take you to Disney Shopping (I also got the cap) you will need a log in

I'm with you Jess - that is very steep - I actually winced when I pressed the button...

For those of you who did join, what is the story with the membership number? Did you just punch in any number? I would have thought for an 'exclusive' club like D23, they would have just issued you with a membership number, not have you pick one. What did you pick for your number? It seems that you can pick any number - I just tried 1 and it worked.

I have to say though, I love the D23 website.

So the bottom line is, ignoring the certificate and membership card for the moment, that each issue of the magazine will cost somewhere around $60 Australian? I am less than convinced at the moment.

Other than the magazine, all membership gets you is a discount to Expo entry price, the ability to spend more money on more merchandise and a surprise gift. I may be playing the devils advocate here but I think I'll have to wait and see a copy of the magazine before I decide that it's worth as much as a good quality Disney book.

I am with you. I just cant justify spending that kind of money for what is basically just a magazine subscription with a few other trinkets. I love all things Disney but this is a bit over the top considering what you get. I rather spend the money on some Disney dvds or something like that . Seriously AU$220 is over the top. Disney are just stepping all over their fans here.

If only they had a standard postage option... Because they are distributing the magazines through Disney Shopping, they ship everything via DHL. I wouldn't have minded if they had sent it via the post at a reasonable rate - heck, that's what Amazon does and I've never had a problem. Why are they using a courier for four magazine issues? That's a ridiculous cost imposition.

Too bad they couldn't offer the club a bulk package of magazines that could come under one postage fee and then be distributed.

Yikes, had no idea postage was that much! I was going to join but that's just a little bit too much $$ for us right now, considering we won't be able to make the convention.

I miss the old Disney Club :(
