Re: Disneyland Anaheim Closes

That is a possibility and yes the cruise industry will take a massive hit.  Virgin literally just launched when the virus escalated so they'd be feeling it bad.  I actually hope that Disney delay the launch to allow confidence back into the industry, and give us more time to save :D

Re: COVID19 Thread

With the collapse of Virgin Australia today, I think airlines will be hoping for any money to fill seats, so I think as long as they are covering costs, they sell tickets at a low price to drive up demand.  But I can't see ourselves going overseas for a while now.  I think we will travel locally es...

Re: COVID19 Thread

I'm late to the discussion, but given the length of time, not so bad a thing.  I started WFH on March 18th and will be until at least June.  My company is started to feel the pinch with the economic downturn but still surviving at present. We had a big holiday booked August/September, cruising Alask...

Re: Disneyland Anaheim Closes

CAL Governor came out today and indicated there potentially may not be any mass gatherings until August at the earliest.  That's a long time closed for the resort.

Re: Tokyo Disneyland to close, Coronavirus

I'm coming to Australia in October for my parents 60th wedding anniversary and wondering if I can pay for the trip by bringing some toilet paper with me. :-)

Re: Bob Iger steps down effective immediately!

Last Thursday, the share price (DIS) opened at $141.41 At close of business in New York on Wednesday (this Thursday morning our time) it is at $123.36 - a 13% drop in four working days...(and it is actually more than that as shares are now at $123.00 in after hours trading in the US.) I did see tha...

Re: Bob Iger steps down effective immediately!

Iger did announce his intention to step away though and it would be a matter of finding his replacement.  I don't think that much is a surprise.  There is probably more to it though, as you allude to.  There are many people online who aren't overjoyed with the news.

Re: Bob Iger steps down effective immediately!

I hope he doesn't start to cut costs, last time that happened it wasn't pretty for the company.  Hopefully he continues on the path of Iger.

Re: Disneyland Express has ceased

On our trip we're flying into LA from Seattle and I asked my TA to fly us into John Wayne, but unfortunately because we're booked on the international ticket, we had to fly into LAX.  But if it's possible, using John Wayne would be a real alternative because it's half the distance closer.

Re: Disneyland Express has ceased

Thanks Anthony - yes, we'll be very interested in know how that goes.  Especially pragmatic things like where you get picked up from; what the vehicle is like; how many loops of the airport you take before heading onto the highway; expected gratuity - all that stuff :)

Re: Disneyland Express has ceased

Our travel agent has booked us through a company called Karmel Shuttles, we're at DL in September.  If no-one else has reviewed them before we go, I'll let everyone know how they were.

Happy New Year Karen and to everyone.  It certainly has been a rough start to the year for much of the country.  Only way from here is up I suppose.

Re: The Imagineering Story

Did anyone else find the long, dangling, ear stretching ear ring really distracting when you were trying to concentrate on what he was saying?

Re: Rise of Skywalker (Spoilers!!)

I also enjoyed it overall as a movie.  I do feel there a couple of unanswered questions left, but that may be deliberate I suspect.  I was both aghast and underwhelmed at the parentage line of Rey.  But not a bad ending to the Skywalker saga and a positive ray of hope (pardon the pun) for future sta...
